Before Your Appointment
Your lash enhancement process actually begins before you step foot in our studio. Proper preparation ensures you get the best possible results and have the most comfortable experience.
48 Hours Before Your Appointment
- Avoid waterproof mascara, as it can be difficult to remove completely and may interfere with the treatment
- Skip lash extensions or strip lashes if you’ve been wearing them
- Discontinue use of oil-based eye makeup removers, as oils can create a barrier that affects product absorption
- If you’re prone to cold sores, consider taking preventive medication as some clients find the eye area manipulation can trigger outbreaks
24 Hours Before Your Appointment
- Remove all eye makeup thoroughly using a gentle, oil-free cleanser
- Avoid using any lash serums or conditioning treatments
- Skip your regular eyelash curler—let your lashes rest in their natural position
- Avoid caffeine if you’re particularly sensitive, as it can make you more prone to eye watering
Day of Your Appointment
- Arrive with completely clean lashes—no mascara, no residue from makeup remover
- Remove contact lenses before your appointment (bring your glasses if needed)
- Avoid wearing heavy eye makeup, as you’ll need to remove it anyway
- Come comfortable and ready to relax for about an hour
What to Bring to Your Appointment
- Sunglasses for after your appointment (your eyes may be slightly sensitive to light)
- Your regular glasses if you wear contacts
- A list of any medications you’re taking, particularly if they affect healing or blood clotting
The better prepared you are, the smoother your experience will be. Our team will also provide you with detailed pre-treatment instructions when you book your appointment, so you’ll never feel uncertain about what to do.
The Consultation Process
Every lash enhancement at DFW Microblading begins with a thorough consultation, even if you’ve already decided which service you want. This isn’t just a formality—it’s where we ensure you get results that exceed your expectations.
Your technician will start by examining your natural lashes under good lighting, assessing their length, thickness, curl pattern, and color. We’re looking at how your lashes grow, their condition, and what enhancement options will work best with your natural characteristics.
We’ll discuss your goals in detail. Are you hoping to eliminate mascara completely? Do you want subtle enhancement or dramatic results? Are you preparing for a special event or just wanting to simplify your daily routine? Understanding your vision helps us customize the perfect treatment plan.
Color and curl decisions
If you’re getting a tint, we’ll walk through color options, showing you how different shades will look against your skin tone and complement your hair color. We’ll discuss curl intensity for lash lifts – maybe a subtle lift that looks completely natural, to a more dramatic curl that opens up your eyes significantly.
Realistic expectations
This is where we get honest about what lash enhancement can and cannot achieve. We’ll show you before-and-after photos of clients with similar lash types so you know exactly what to expect. If we think a different service might better achieve your goals, we’ll discuss those options too.
Aftercare preview
We’ll explain the healing process, what your lashes will look like immediately after treatment, and how they’ll settle over the following days. This preparation eliminates surprises and helps you plan accordingly.
The consultation typically takes 10-15 minutes, but we never rush this process. It’s better to take extra time upfront to ensure you’re completely confident in your choice than to proceed with any uncertainty.
The Step-by-Step Process of Your Lash Treatment
Lash Lift Process
Step 1: Eye preparation and protection
You’ll lie comfortably on our treatment bed with your eyes closed. We place special gel pads under your lower lashes to protect your skin and create a clean working area. This feels similar to having under-eye patches applied.
Step 2: Silicone shield placement
A curved silicone shield is positioned along your lash line. This shield determines the curl pattern and lift intensity we discussed during your consultation. The shield adheres gently to your eyelid—you’ll feel slight pressure but no discomfort.
Step 3: Lash positioning
Using a specialized tool, your technician carefully combs your lashes up and over the shield, ensuring each lash is properly separated and positioned for optimal curl formation. This step requires precision and patience.
Step 4: Lifting solution application
The first solution is applied to break down the bonds in your lash hair, allowing them to be reshaped. The processing time depends on your lash thickness and desired curl intensity. You’ll simply relax with your eyes closed during this phase.
Step 5: Setting solution application
After removing the lifting solution, a setting solution is applied to lock in your new curl pattern. This ensures your results will last for weeks rather than reverting to their original shape.
Step 6: Nourishing treatment
A conditioning treatment is applied to nourish your lashes after the chemical process, leaving them soft and healthy.
Lash Tinting Process
Preparation and protection
Similar to the lift process, we protect your skin with special pads and ensure your eye area is completely clean and prepared for color application.
Color application
The tinting solution is carefully applied to each lash using a specialized brush, ensuring even coverage from root to tip. The processing time varies based on your natural lash color and desired result intensity.
Color development monitoring
Your technician checks the color development periodically to ensure you achieve the perfect shade without over-processing.
Gentle removal and finishing
The tint is gently removed with specialized cleansers, revealing your beautifully darkened lashes.
Combination Treatment Timeline
When you’re getting both services, the process is efficiently combined. The lift procedure is completed first, and while your lashes are processing with the setting solution, the tint is applied.
This approach means your total appointment time is only slightly longer than a single service. You’ll love the results and will be out the door in no time!
Immediately After Your Treatment: What You’ll See and Feel
The moment you open your eyes after your lash enhancement, you’ll see an immediate transformation! But it’s important to understand that what you see right away isn’t necessarily your final result.
Right after a lash lift
Your lashes will appear dramatically curled and lifted, possibly more so than your final result.
This initial intensity is normal and will settle into a more natural-looking curl over the next 24-48 hours. Some clients describe their lashes as looking “surprised” initially – but this is temporary!
Right after lash tinting
Your newly tinted lashes will appear quite dark and defined, especially if you started with very light lashes. The color may seem intense initially but will soften slightly as any excess pigment naturally diminishes over the first few days.
What you might feel:
- Slight sensitivity to light (hence the sunglasses recommendation)
- A feeling of “awareness” around your eyes, similar to how you feel after getting your eyebrows shaped
- Possible minor watering or blinking more frequently as your eyes adjust
- A tingling sensation that subsides quickly
